FAQs

HOW/WHERE CAN I PLAY?

You have 2 main options to play "Slowly Fading into Data": PHYSICAL release or DIGITAL release.

If you opt for the PHYSICAL release (recommended option), you can get a copy of the "Collector's Edition" or the "Artist Edition" in this website. Once you receive the package at home, you just need to plug in the cartridge that comes in the box into your handheld console. This experience is compatible with Game Boy Color©, Game Boy Advance©, Game Boy Advance SP©, Analogue Pocket© and other consoles compatible with this type of cartridge.

EPILEPSY-PHOTOSENSITIVITY WARNING

"Slowly Fading into Data" has a significant amount of flashing content.

Therefore, this audiovisual experience is NOT recommended for people with special eyesensitivity, photosensitivity or other conditions that could trigger some sort of seizures.

THIS IS THE BEST WAY TO EXPERIENCE IT

Open a bottle of wine. Pour yourself a glass. Only one.

Get your handheld console and the cartridge. Plug it in.

Connect your headphones.

Get comfy.

Do not use any other device that would alter the total darkness in the room.

Enjoy the trip :)

I'M PLAYING THE GAME AND I FEEL COMPLETELY LOST

Breath. Don't panic.

This is an unconventional and experimental game. Thre's plenty of non-standard dynamics. The experience is complex and convoluted.

Every movement (or lack of it) has a meaning. Everything is full of visual metaphors.

Just explore, don't be afraid. Try to find joy in your research and exploration.

This is a contemplative game, so prepare your mind-set for a slow-paced, ethereal, and trippy experience.

MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES

Some topics treated in the game are deeply philosophical and some are considered sensitive.

The project "Slowly Fading into Data" also hopes to increase mental health awareness. Interestingly, there is a validated mental health test inside the game. There are no problems of data rights or confidentiality as all the data is destroyed the moment you exit the game.

If you are going through a rough time or are experiencing or facing some personal problems do not hesitate to ask for help.

ASK FOR SUPPORT.

HOW LONG IS THE EXPERIENCE?

It's like a movie: 1h 20mins approx.

DO I NEED HEADPHONES?

The best way to experience the sound design produced for "Slowly Fading into Data" is a 100% with headphones.

WHY IS THERE NO "SAVE" BUTTON?

"Slowly Fading into Data" should be experienced in one go. Like a movie.

The fact that the game has no SAVE functionality is intentional with artistic purposes.

The experience lasts for 1h 20mins approx. But it is definitely recommended to play it more than once to discover all its hidden secrets and alternative endings.

IS THE PHYSICAL CARTRIDGE BETTER THAN THE DIGITAL RELEASE?

No release is better than the other one, but the audiovisual experience was designed and produced to be specifically experienced in a retro handheld console with a small screen.

All the pixel-art game assets, their resolutions, and their aesthetics are perceived much better in smaller screens rather than in, for example, a 4K gaming screen/monitor.

WHAT ARE THE CONTROLS FOR PC IN THE DIGITAL RELEASE?

GameBoy Butotn "A" = Keyboard Key "Z"

GameBoy Button "B" = Keyboard Key "X"

GameBoy Button "Start" = Keyboard Key "Enter"

GameBoy Button "Select" = Keyboard Key "Shift"

GameBoy D-Pad = Keyboard Arrow Keys

WHO THE HELL IS BEHIND ALL THIS?

Hi there!

I'm Albert. Not the .DATA one, the human one (for now). How are you doing?

Believe it or not, I've been developing all this project in complete indie solo mode. It's been 2 fricking intense years as you can imagine...

I decided to self-produce it (a significant financial challange) in order to be able to have 100%, absolute creative freedom.

I really hope you will appreciate the effort and the attention to details that I devoted to every single aspect of this project.

What I really wish is that this experience makes you think and reflect about your past, present and more importantly, our future. That's my main goal as an artist.

I'm sincerely grateful for your support :)

Una abracada,

Albert.
